Welcome to your source for images of Central Michigan University. For CMU faculty and staff, access to these thousands of photos is for use in presentations, department and college websites, printed materials, and officially recognized social media.
If you’re a CMU employee, you can request access to the "Campus Partners" section of the website for a collection of categorized images. Please email [email protected] or contact your college's campus communicator to request permission. At this time, access is only available to faculty and staff. Student workers may access images using a department login created by using a department email. Please do not share any provided link or password with any person(s) outside of CMU.

Ethical and Responsible Use of University Images
The Central Michigan University PhotoSource is a valuable resource for faculty and staff to enhance presentations, department websites, printed materials, and officially recognized social media. To ensure responsible and ethical use, please follow these guidelines:
Respect Image Intent & Context: Only use images that align with the messaging and academic purpose they support. Do not use photos in ways that misrepresent individuals, programs, or CMU’s mission.
Avoid Misrepresentation: Never use candid images to imply specific identities, demographics, or areas of study unless they are directly related to the event or program being represented.
No Assumption of Advertising Rights: These images are not pre-approved for paid advertising. If advertising use is needed, consult University Communications.
Restricted Access & Sharing: Access is limited to CMU faculty and staff. Student workers may use a department login but should not share access credentials externally.
Compliance with Removal Requests: If University Communications requests the removal of an image from publication, you must comply and remove it promptly.
Requesting Photography
There are two ways to request photography:
University Communications Partnership: You may request to partner with University Communications to create assets representing a specific study area or student service.
Media Graphix Student Photography: You may contact Media Graphix to request a student photographer to cover an event for an hourly fee. Sometimes, the UCOMM office may choose to cover an event instead of a student photographer.
All photography requests, including shot lists and timelines, are subject to availability and viability.
Failure to follow image use guidelines may result in revoked access. If you have any questions about image use or need assistance, contact University Communications at [email protected].
By using CMU’s image library, you agree to uphold these ethical standards to maintain the integrity of our university’s visual storytelling.
